You already pay for Ahrefs. Every paid plan includes custom prompts checked daily: 5 on Lite, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced.
You want market-wide data without setting anything up. The AI Visibility Index ($199 a month) covers 496 million prompts, with history back to 2025.
You track a large prompt set and want the lowest price per check. As the table below shows, its packages can cost less than Placton for a similar schedule.
A dedicated tool fits better if
You want Grok. Brand Radar does not list it; Placton asks Grok every week on every plan.

An index of 496 million+ prompts, with mentions, citations, share of voice and estimated impressions.
No setup and history back to 2025, so you can look at any brand or category on day one.
Best for brands that already show up in AI answers. Ahrefs says the AI Visibility Index works best for established brands: coverage may be limited for brands with little or no search volume.
Question sets are re-tested monthly on a 90-day reporting window, so it shows the market, not this week’s change.

Does Ahrefs Brand Radar have a free trial?
No. Ahrefs’ pricing FAQ lists no free trial and says “We never run discounts”; Ahrefs Free gives limited access to Site Explorer and Site Audit. Placton’s trial lasts 7 days without a card.
What is the difference between the AI Visibility Index and custom prompts?
The index is a large set of prompts Ahrefs has already asked and stored, ready to search for any brand with no setup, refreshed monthly on a 90-day window. Custom prompts are your own questions, tracked from the day you add them, as often as daily.
Does Brand Radar track Grok? Does Placton track Gemini?
Brand Radar does not list Grok; Placton asks Grok every week. The other way round, Placton does not track Gemini, Google AI Mode or Copilot, which Brand Radar does.
Is Brand Radar cheaper than Placton?
